Used starter housing for merc9.9 o/b mtr
Unit appears to be serviceable and in good shape for a used part. Excellent find since they are obsolete. Mercury really made an excellent engine when they made these early70's 9.9's. I've owned mine since1980, bought it used, was in ruff condition, overhauled it and made necessary repairs. Used it quite frequently until mid ninety's as my emergency power source( kicker). On2 separate wide, heavy 19 ft boats. It's a shame that mercury has obsoleted so many parts. Their way of making you buy an inferior replacement. This particular engine has made 2 saves from15 miles out in the Gulf of Mexico. Once towing a 23 ft cuddy cabin as well as propelling my19 ft cuddy cabin with6 people aboard!!!! At a speed of about8 knots, back to port in Destin, FL. I swear by these little mtrs. That's why I'm repairing mine and not buying one of these inferior new ones.

Difficulty in mounting
Use over time will tell as far as the quality is. I've purchased several in the past and they worked. Gripe that I have is that you have to generally fabricate a mount. Cutting that hole that is required, takes precision cutting that most don't have the capability. Should come with a built-in bracket that has more of a margin.

Rechargeable headlight
Extremely bright beam with range on high or low. Has strobe light mode as well. Did test after batteries were fully charged. Light ran continuously on high for more than 5 hrs. Battery pack has a red rear facing light that illuminates when in operation. Downfall, NO INSTRUCTIONS INCLUDED. There should have been charging instructions. Re-charge time is quite lengthy. Would like to know type of battery and if you can short charge it or if you only charge after complete discharge. Paul.
