Quality product, versatile, an excellent first computer on a budget.
I bought this ThinkPad R51 to fix-up and give to my step daughter. Who is in need of a low cost solution to her computing needs. I previously purchased a R51 (from Ebay), the hardware/ software integration went smoothly. I felt this would be perfect for her (specs) and for us (price). These are the attributes of this R51:
1) 1.5Ghz Pentium M processor w/ 1Mb L2 cache
2) 2.0Gb Ram Max
3) Combo optical drive CD-RW/DVD (24x16x24x/8x)
4) 20-160Gb EIDE hard drive (2.5" Laptop type)
5) 32 Mb video ram and ATI GPU
6) Gigabit ethernet (10/100/1000 base T)
7) wifi (802.11 b/g)
8) an affordable battery and battery charger
9) weight is reasonable
The R51 I bought for our use, the only difference is a faster processor (1.7 Ghz)
