Superb for studio without breaking the bank!!
2 of 3 found this helpful My first impression of the AKG P220 microphone is that it is materially of the highest quality. The microphone has a heft and feel of real quality. I especially like the metal fabric that covers the actual diaphram - it too is of highest quality. I had NO complaints about my previous microphone, but I had a belief that something of higher sound quality was available, and the P220 IS providing that higher sound quality, at a price that's extremely affordable. If you're not familiar with condenser microphones, you WILL need to purchase an audio interface that provides 48v (phantom voltage) to the microphone. I indicated that this is NOT a lightweight microphone; by that I only mean that you'll need a boom or stand that will support its nearly one pound weight without sagging or drooping. Overall, I am HIGHLY pleased with this microphone, and I view it as the ultimate addition to my small home studio.
