First look review
The unit looks OK. It was "new in box" as promised. The parts look good. I have not installed it yet so I will update this review once I have tested it.

Difficult install and surprising behavior
The only interface to this controller is via an app and a very few simplistic function buttons. I am fairly tech savvy, with an engineering degree in computer science and 25 years of application programming. That is all to say that I could not get the controller to stay registered with the application. Spent about a half hour with tech support and we finally got it going. Tech support was good and I commend them.
I so not have a rain sensor attached but the unit can be set to anticipate rainfall from weather forecasts. It has surprised me by skipping a watering cycle on a forecast that failed to deliver rain. I was able to command an out of cycle run. As time goes by, and I get used to the behaviors, I may better appreciate the controller. Until then, I am a little underwhelmed by the interface. Still, I would give this a 4 out of 5 stars.
