Interesting Reprint
Original copies of this book are very hard to find. It was not a best-seller! The illustrations are not particularly good.
However, the book is well organized, and is particularly useful for describing the distribution of species within the Virginian Zone (as it is described in the book). The text is easily accessible to beginners.
Many of the scientific names of organisms have been revised since the publication of this book, so reference to a modern guide would be useful.
I would recommend this book for reference, although a modern guides would be more useful because illustrations would be better, and nomenclature would be more recent.
