Updates are always needed.
Don't think your going to sit down and watch tv. This unit takes a moment everytime you power it up to update or reset itself. After being patient allowing it to do program protocols, it works pretty well. Wouldn't recommend this unit to anyone compared to others I've purchased for classroom instruction.
