I'm never happier than when arriving at the pier, the ship's whistle blows seeming to rent the earth and heralding the great adventure ahead. Over 70 cruises, I've gone from overpacking six pieces of checked luggage to managing on a two week long transatlantic crossing with only one small carry on bag. This happened twice when sailing out of Rome and the airlines lost the luggage. These two unfortunate experiences taught me, it's possible to have a fabulous voyage without 27 pairs of shoes and different outfits for every conceivable activity. Now I manage nicely on a capsule wardrobe of quality items in white with navy or black and an accent colour, all packed into one checked bag and one carry on bag. The idea is to take only what makes me feel great, the best of the best in my closet! Here I will offer just such pieces to build your own capsule wardrobe. All items have been worn only once or twice on some exciting voyage.
