All Creatures Great and Small Complete Collection 28-Disc DVD New Series (2010)

    Early shows best
Reviewing even though only up to 6 of 7 seasons. I have read every book James Herriot wrote, at least 10 times each, so I am a fan. The first 3 seasons of this show are the ones I remember fondest and do the most justice to the author's portrayal of the characters. After the original series went on hiatus and returned for season 4 onward, the quality of content dropped noticeably. Some changes I understand needed to happen for purposes of the show, such as handing off scenes to the other vets to give them more to do than be a foil for Herriot, and limiting the number of colorful farmers to keep the cast size reasonable. But most disconcerting was how they changed Calum from an eccentric wildlife lover to a star-crossed lover with girl problems and awkward relationships with farmers. In other words a pseudo-Tristan. Made for some painful sit-com cliches and interminable scenes of dialogue inside the dining room. But I still love having gotten this. Because even when it pales in comparison to the books, it is fun to do the comparing!

Multi-Tool Leatherman 12-in-1 Juice C2 Tools Pliers Storm Grey

When you need something bigger than Swiss Army
I don't like to haul bulky tools in my pockets. Since I am an office dweller, I seldom need to pull Excaliber from my scabbard. So when I need a tool larger than my trusty Swiss Army knife, The Juice suffices. Folded, it's small enough to not upset the clean lines of my jeans. Unfolded, it can do everything from cutting rusty wire to grasping bolts, to that ultimate challenge: opening children's toy packages. AND... it de-corks wine bottles (hence the name "Juice?"). I now prefer the Juice to its big brother the Original Leatherman. But that one's good, too. Every tool has its job.
