easy and helpful
1 of 2 found this helpful gives instant, accurate readings. this works a lot better than those analog meters i've always used! i really love that it doesn't need batteries. the package also includes a list of most common houseplants and their suggested moisture levels. highly recommended.

great pens, but inaccurate colors
like all Staedtler pens, these are very high-quality. they feel great in the hand and don't roll away due to the triangular barrel. the caps fit strongly on either end of the pen. the nibs are a bit thinner than i was expecting. it takes a bit of practice to get even coverage instead of just making scratchy lines, but it's worth it - the diameter makes them nearly as good as pencils for coloring in very small areas.
my only issue is with the colors themselves. the orange and grey are the closest in color to the caps, though the orange is a bit paler and the green is very bright. they are still very pretty colors. the blue is somewhat greyer than the cap. the pink is rather dull, almost a flesh color. the lavender is a huge disappointment. i was mostly attracted to this set because i needed a nice pastel lavender. instead the color is rather dark and very grey - nothing at all like the cap. it's dark enough to almost completely obscure any black lines or markings underneath. it's still a pretty color, but not one i will use much and definitely not one i can use in the same places i would use a lavender pen.
