Logitech MX Ergo (910005177) Wireless Trackball Mouse
    Feb 20, 2021
The next evolution of Logitech Trackball mice.
I've been a long time fan of Logitech Trackman and M570 mice. The MX Ergo is the next evolution of those classic trackball mice. With all the remote working going on, the ability to connect the MX Ergo to 2 PC's by either Bluetooth or Logitech wireless dongles (which I have several off, from all the M570's I've had), and seamlessly switch between them has been fantastic. I've actually been using this functionality to switch between my personal and work PC's for a long time, even before the pandemic forced me to work from home, full-time. The Logitech Options software is incredibly powerful for a non-gamer oriented software, allowing you to easily create multiple program-specific button profiles for the MX Ergo, and the mouse invisibly switches profiles instantly as you switch the focus to different programs. The left and right scroll wheel clicks feels perfect, and is immensely handy once you create a profile for your preferred browser application and set the left/right scroll wheel clicks to the keyboard shortcut to switch tabs. The magnetic base is pretty neat, allowing you to raise the mouse for a more natural/ergonomic/comfortable hand-rest position. And the magnet has been strong enough (for me at least) that I don't accidentally push it down to the lowest position while I'm using it. My only qualms about this mouse are: 1. The Back and Forward buttons are a little stiff, which takes a little getting used to if you're coming from an M570 2. The hole on the underside of the mouse to help you push the trackball out of the socket to clean it is a little on the small side, which makes it a little more difficult to easily find a utensil to stick in there when you need to clean it. You can't just grab anything laying around your desk to poke the trackball out anymore. 3. The top of the base plate is not coated, so as grim falls thru the hole on the bottom of the mouse, it'll land and get stuck to the base plate, and is a little tough to clean off. 4. The price is a little high for a mouse, to me, but it is a pretty good value considering all of the features that are baked in. I would definitely say that I've gotten my money's worth.
