The Best Film Sherlock!
There is a reason why we keep printing, filming, reading and watching Sherlock Holmes... these are fantastic stories!
I have thoroughly enjoyed most every incarnation of Holmes and Watson, but Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce truly embody Conan Doyle's characters!
These films, from 1939 through 1946 are wonderful and thanks to UCLA Film and Television Archive, they have been beautifully restored on DVD.
I will jump at the chance to watch any version of Holmes and Watson, but these are the films I will watch over and over. I am so pleased to finally own them all!

Intarsia in Plain English! Laura Birek Rocks!
I just started knitting a coupe of months ago and I really wanted to learn intarsia. I bought several, mostly really good, instructional books on learning to knit, but all of them only gave this technique a page or sometimes a paragraph on it. Not only did they barely include it, they would say how hard it is and suggest doing other things. I didn't want to do Fair Isle or Duplicate, I wanted to do intarsia! I wanted to have someone explain how to do it as simply, and properly. Laura Birek did! This book takes all the intimidation out of intarsia. I followed her direction and though it is not simple and all the dangling bobbins and strings can take time and concentration, I really enjoy it! I would highly recommend this book for anyone who knits and would like to try this fun technique! SHe also included tons of charts, projects and ideas. All knitters should buy this book!

Twin Peaks
2 of 2 found this helpful This series is definitely one of the most interesting and addictive television series ever made! Sadly, it ends a little too abruptly, as I think they'd planned to do a third season, that never materialized. But this shouldn't stop you from watching the whole thing! If you buy it, make sure to get the pilot episode, that comes with The Definitive Gold Collection. I wouldn't bother buying the seasons separately, because Season One doesn't include the pilot and you will want to see the whole thing. You'll also want "Fire Walk With Me", but hold off watching until you've watched the series first!
