great show, great collection, but horrible package design and execution
My wife will watch M*A*S*H episodes on any channel where she can find them, so I figured I'd get her every episode so she can watch them anytime. This boxed set looks great from the outside, but has at least two serious flaws. One is that the promised "clipboard" retrospective book supposedly contained inside the front cover was missing, which isn't a tremendous loss, it's just that it's part of the promised collection. The other flaw is that the discs are stored in slits in the contained cardboard folders, which do not hold the discs safely, so they slide out, get scratched, and drop out of the folders. If you purchase this collection, remove the discs and store them in DVD boxes or some sort of plastic protective sleeve, as the storage box for the collection is useless, tears on the side, and will ruin your discs within a few viewings.
It's a shame that they make such a nice-looking box and complete mess up the storage and protection of the discs inside, especially considering the price of the collection. I suspect that should they re-release this collection in a few years,, I'll have to replace it. Unless you want the included bloopers and interviews, I'd suggest buying the individual seasons separately in acceptable packaging.
