    A Classic Comedy
This is a classic comedic satire written by Charles Lawrence about Vicky, an overweight landlady who lives with two male housemates. Henry is her older, flamboyant gay roommate with a sharp tongue and quick wit, and James, a straight laced want to be writer hoping to sell his first novel. Vicky meets Tom, a smitten potential suitor who travels for his job. With the help of Vicky's roommates, she undergoes a diet and exercise regime to drop 30 pounds before Tom returns home at Xmas time for a up-date with Vicky. The Broadway production opened on March 31, 1974 at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre, where it ran for 288 performances. The cast included Lynn Redgrave as Vicky, John Lithgow as James, and George Rose as Henry, who was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play and won the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Performance.
