It's Plastic but it works very well.
I was a little suppressed that the case was plastic but I used it all summer without any problems. I figured that it couldn’t be any worse than the medal one that came with the mower and failed. It is a job to get it installed. Also I think the internal parts are cheaper to purchase than the one’s in the old medal case drive should they ever need to be replaced.

Very Good Pump
I used this pump 5 times this summer and it always worked perfectly.

Good belt
It seemed a little short but I did get it installed. I used it all summer and preformed perfectly. I checked for wear this fall and it is showing very little.
