Hard to beat

A first hand account telling the sad story that is Africa.

This is recommended reading for those who think we can do much to save the world from....you fill in the blank. People are ruled by their past, and do what we will it is never enough to make much of a difference in the long term. Societies must be based on an ethic and on laws that all respect. In the absence of such a basis people are at the mercies of the animal in all of us. This account tells of the potential of Africa and the realities that exist given a lack of law and order making for the worst that comes out in people. It really is a jungle out there. I am hoping that I will get some ray of hope from Mr. Richburg as I am only mid way through the book.
