ZOSI Full 1080p Wireless NVR 2TB 2MP Outdoor Security IP Camera WIFI CCTV System
    Mar 13, 2018
    Good Quality NVR system
I was skeptical of the value of a security camera system from eBay but couldn't find what I needed locally, even in the high end security stores. I needed an 8 channel security camera system and wanted at least a 1080P NVR and 2MP cameras. For my application the system had to be wireless from cameras to NVR. The Zosi system fit the bill perfectly. The system is very easy to set up. The NVR is small, and the cameras are simple to set up. Just screw on the antenna, mount to the wall and plug it in to power. The power supplies for each camera are about 9 feet long so camera location is limited only by where you have power. The signal is stronger than I expected and the signal is clear with high quality images, even through a couple walls. I placed one outside by my shed about 120 feet from the NVR through 3 walls and the shed and still got a decent signal. The cameras have 3.6mm lenses so they give a wide view, about 80 degrees, which means one camera can cover most of a room. The downside to wide angle lenses is that it reduces the distance at which you can identify someone on the video if needed. They usually have to be right in front of a wide angle lens to identify a person. With these cameras and a good monitor, I can easily identify a face of a person 15 feet from the camera. Everything in the image is clear and crisp, it just gets smaller the farther away it is from the camera. The cameras that come with the system will have an internal number assigned so when you plug them in they come up on a certain spot on the monitor. #1 camera is in a square about 2/3 of the screen. The other 7 cameras are in small boxes around that. See photo. They are not marked so the first thing I did was plug in each camera, let it connect to the NVR, and put the number on the back so I could install them where I wanted them to be on the monitor. All 8 cameras can be seen in live viewing and you can expand any camera view to fill the screen simply by double clicking on it with the included mouse. In reviewing recordings, you can only see 4 cameras at once, but all 8 are recorded and you pick which four you can see, again simply by clicking with the mouse. A really cool feature I accidentally discovered is that you can click once on a camera's live view, the border will turn yellow, click the + button at the bottom and then zoom in and out with the mouse by scrolling the wheel. The cameras don’t zoom (not PTZ), just the image on the monitor. You will have to supply a monitor and a VGA or HDMI cable for it. Go with at least a 1080P monitor to see the best image from the cameras. The cameras have a short split cable attached, one side for the power and another for an Ethernet cable which is used only if you want to connect the cameras to a router by wire. This is only when you want to put the camera in a place where there is bad reception for the wireless. You run an Ethernet cable from the cameras to a router you supply, and connect the router to the NVR by Ethernet cable (supplied). You can also use the cameras as a repeater to get longer range to other cameras. It’s pretty simple to do with the mouse and allows you to put cameras further away by using a camera in range as a repeater to those further away. By connecting a router to the NVR you can also view your cameras over the internet or mobile phone. There is a free app you have to install to watch over your mobile phone. The recorded video is compressed in H.264 format so they will not play back quite as clear as the live video but this is a factor of any security system I’ve looked at. It’s a trade off for video quality vs hard drive space. The video records in 1 hour blocks by clock time and transfers to a USB drive as an .avi file, viewable with many programs. The multi-language instruction manual that comes with the system is not terrible but leaves a lot out and is hard to read because of its size. You can download the user manual from the Zosi website that is the same in English but is easier to read on screen. The only thing I would improve on the system is to add a small cooling fan inside the NVR. Hard drives can get pretty warm when running 24/7. On the note of a hard drive, I opted to get the Zosi system without a hard drive installed because I could get a larger hard drive cheaper and install it myself over their price with a hard drive installed. All well and good as long as you know more about NVR systems than I did. I bought a 3TB HDD (off eBay) that sounds like it should work (SATA interface, less than 6TB) but it is NOT compatible with NVR application. If you choose this option, stick with the Western Digital Purple series hard drive which are made for security camera use, or just buy the system from Zosi with the HDD installed. Zosi uses the WD purple HDD's if you go that route. Cameras can be set to record at set times, on motion detection or by alarm which requires a separate alarm input.
HD 1300TVL 72IR 9~22mm Long Distance Zoom Outdoor Surveillance Security Camera

    Good camera, poor instructions.
I received the camera well packed. It comes with standard BNC and power cables attached, about 1 foot long, and a sun/rain shield that mounts on top. The housing is heavy duty aluminum and screws into a 3x3 base that you mount to the wall. The cables route through the base so they can pass through the wall if you like and remain hidden and protected from vandalism. The camera is quite a bit larger than I expected, approximately 4x4 and 8 inches long, plus the mount. There are two thumb screws on the bottom and one on top. My only complaint for this camera is there are absolutely no instructions included that explain what these are for, however it was easy to figure out. The one on top is to mount the included rain/sun shield and the two on bottom are the manual zoom and focus. The camera can be zoomed and focused anywhere between about 3 feet and 100 feet and still get a good picture. The IR LED's work VERY well in complete darkness. One camera completely lights up my 24x30 shop with night vision IR. For the price I couldn't be happier so far. I haven't had a chance to check the iris in bright daylight yet to see if the image washes out but so far it is far better than the cameras that came with my DVR.

Garrett Pro-Pointer AT Underwater Pinpointer w/ Holster & Battery - USA Genuine

Great handheld metal detector. It's easy to use and works very well. I bought it after watching videos online showing comparison between it and the Chinese copies. Sensitivity is excellent and adjusting it is easy as holding it near the items you want to tune out and turn it off and back on. . One button operation. One thing I really like is the 9-volt battery compartment. Unscrew the tail cap and the compartment is formed to hold the battery against contacts when the cap is on. It doesn't use the normal flimsy 9-volt battery connector i usually rip loose changing batteries. It recommends removing the battery if storing over 30 days so I just reverse the battery in the compartment when I'm finished using it. There are 3 levels of sensitivity with vibration alert with or without tones. I use it to locate survey pins and dropped screws/parts in gravel and grass and it works very well. I have not used it under water but I don't expect to need to. The description online says waterproof to 10 feet but the package mine came in says to 20 feet.
