Extending Wifi Network

I bought two more mini wifi hotspots to extend the coverage of my existing Hotspot 600 set and complete the elimination of two less reliable predecessors. Adding the two was an easy procedure, giving three hotspots all sharing the wifi login id and password of the router. Working reliably.

Excellent platform for old lenses

I had been sitting on 6 Nikon F mount lenses since I gave up film cameras, waiting for the second hand Nikon Df digital body to come down in price. circa £1000, when I saw a Youtube film of a Sony e-mount camera with the APS-C sensor. £75 for the body and a £16 adapter brought the lenses back into use with an effective 1.5x increase in effective focal length, £80 brought use without the 1.5x increase, and £28 gave tilt on 5 lenses and shift + tilt on my shift lens. This is much cheaper and much more versatile than the Df. The functionality of the NEX-5 is good; in particular (a) aperature priority automatic exposure, (b) due to the mirrorless design an LCD rear screen which maintains its brightness when stopping down and permits easy viewing of depth of field, and (c) excellent support for manual focussing in the form of focus peaking, which again clearly shows depth of field.
