Hey Jude/Again
This is a nice CD recreation of this album, a bit nicer than the U.S. Version from a couple of years ago because of the bonus tracks including both the single and the uncut version of You Know My Name. I wish it would have included The Inner Light but you can't have everything. Since the U.S. version is out of print this is your best version available.

Great music padded with unnecessary interviews
If you loved Vol 1 of the BBC material you'll still like this one but one of the things that made vol 1 so great was the wealth of unreleased songs not commercially available. The 2nd volume only has 2 unreleased songs, neither of which are very well recorded & not up to the standards of the Vol 1 unreleased songs. Quite a few of familiar songs are on both albums. The other problem is the addition of a whole disk of interviews. This is a fairly expensive package & it seems like the interviews were just added to justify an inflated price. I am really happy to have these songs but I waited until I found a deeply discounted copy. Since not long after this was released the powers that be released the download only Beatles Bootleg Recordings 1963 on ITunes that contained more BBC recordings, I would have been a lot happier if the third disk of Vol 2 had those songs Instead of the interviews. The last thing I wanted was the mono vinyl reissues & at this point the only thing that I'd be interested in would be an official release of the Christmas Collection or an expanded remastered long out of print Hollywood Bowl. Maybe a release of all the US picture sleeve 45s in one package. At this point the bottom of the barrel is in sight.

Quality issue
1 of 1 found this helpful One of my personal favorites. Brian went back to the themes of earlier Beach Boys albums but used his newly honed studio prowess in the production of Summer Days. This is the last stop ( excluding Party which is a novelty record) on the road to Brian's masterpiece. Here the songs literally jump out of the speakers, the performances crisp and clear. Of the Analogue Productions pressings, this is of the highest quality possible in a vinyl disk. The vinyl itself is dead silent between songs. The cover is a work of art. You have never seen this album look this good. Unlike many recent recordings the cover is cardboard with the artwork being separately printed. This is available in both the original mono and newly remixed stereo. If you are going to only have one version it should probably be the mono. The stereo has some odd instrument placements in the mix that in a small number of places is a bit distracting. If you want the best and can afford a somewhat high price, Analogue Productions has created the definitive version of this classic album.
