Noisy and needs a UPS
This enclosure works quite well for the price, but I was disappointed that the RAM can't be increased like most other QNAP NAS boxes. I fitted it with 3 x Seagate 10TB Ironwolf NAS drives which vibrate slightly and I have to say, constantly. QNAP claim this NAS's drives are hot-swappable, but the drives are mounted inside and it is impossible to open the case with it running because it is really risky to move and rotate HDDs when they are in use. The slots the drives mount into are clever, but quite loose as there are no screws and the plastic clips are weak, so the drives buzz and rattle ALL THE TIME! The cooling fan hums too, so if you're thinking of getting one of these you won't want it in your Home Theatre because of the noise. I had another serious problem too. There was a little power glitch in our area which caused the TS328 to do a sudden 'dirty' shutdown. When I powered on again there were error messages galore! Fortunately I lost nothing, but I'd strongly suggest getting a UPS because this NAS is not able to ignore minor power glitches (they're the ones that don't reset the clock on your oven). You DO NOT want any 'dirty' shutdowns!
