this is one time you should buy generic: the mandrills are aluminum. That's what put me in the market to buy new ones: the original one in the Dremel was aluminum. At 30,000 RPM? How moronic is that?! Look for the brass ones - I loved my Dremel now, it feels like it's going to last!
HALLETT 100 % Cedar HAT STRETCHER Fedora cowboy western ballcap 6 1/2 to 8

In my opinion, it has the wrong shape
The curve on the two halves has too small a radius compared to the human head, or to the hat that it is supposed to stretch. As a result, a hat will be stretched too much longitudinally and too little transversely. I ruined a brand new beaver Stetson hat with it - the leather band literally fell to pieces. In order to give the hat a human head shape again, I put two vitamin jars, one on each side of the screw, to keep the transverse diameter proportional to the longitudinal one, otherwise the hat would have fit a fish head instead. I ended up getting another stretcher, which is perfect. Too bad, as this one is otherwise well made and the cedar wood has a lovely smell.
