This is the 2nd one that we own. It is just the right size for small jobs and in small households. It is durable; I have used my other one for 13 years.
Lone Star: A History of Texas and the Texans by T. R. Fehrenbach — HC/DJ 1985
May 25, 2018
Best book on Texas History ever written
The 1985 edition (or even the original 1968 edition to commemorate the 1968 San Antonio World's Fair) is the best book on Texas History ever written. Each chapter is compelling and can even stand alone for casual reading. It captures the essence of Texas through those years with all of the warts and foibles of human nature. Texas population has tripled since the first edition, and there are now so many non-natives in the state. This book will help newcomers living in the urban centers understand what the state is about. For those people sporting the bumper sticker that says "I wasn't born here, But I got here as fast as I could", the book will read like a newly-discovered heritage.
