Yes album without Jon Anderson
0 of 1 found this helpful This is the second- weakest Yes studio album. While not a bad album, it is a definitive statement that Yes isn't as good without Jon Anderson. Anderson's songwriting and vocals are sorely missed. Like it's successor, "Heaven and Earth" (the weakest Yes album), this album could be an Asia album. That said, if this album was anyone but Yes, it might get another star as this is a well-produced album of great musicians. It's just that Yes has set such a high bar of excellence on its previous albums that anything less stands out. The "Fly from Here" motif is over-used in the main suite and the Buggles side of Yes comes to the fore-front on this album. Yes fans will still want this though since weaker Yes is better than no Yes at all.

Last Yes album with Chris Squire
This is the weakest Yes studio album. While not a bad album, it is a definitive statement that Yes isn't as good without Jon Anderson. Anderson's songwriting and vocals are sorely missed. Like it's predecessor, "Fly From Here", this album could be an Asia album. Unfortunately, Chris Squire's swansong does not feature any notable Squire-style bass riffs, also lending to an Asia-like sound. That said, if this album was anyone but Yes, it might get another star as this is a well-produced album of great musicians. It's just that Yes has set such a high bar of excellence on its previous albums that anything less stands out. It will be interesting to see what Yes featuring ARW comes out with. It may be time for a Re-"Union".

The last classic line-up Yes album.
This double album has one disc of live material and one disc of studio recordings of new material. Both the live and studio discs are excellent. If you're a Yes fan, you don't want to miss this one.
