The wood rounds are too short for larger size hats. This stretcher might work really well on a 6 5/8" hat but not enough surface area for a 7 1/2" hat. The gaps between the wood pieces are to large for larger hats to stretch.

unnecessary fictional details even for 1942
The book would have been terrific if the author hadn't added unnecessary fictional details towards the end of the narrative that left one disappointed and skeptical about just how much of the book is a lie.
