HDMI Male to VGA Female Adapter
Works great, simple to use. I use it to connect my newer devices (laptops, PCs, etc.), which are equipped with HDMI ports, to older monitors with VGA ports. It acts as a dongle, hanging off the laptop or PC, and I use a common VGA cable to connect to the monitor.
The common issue with such connections is that HDMI is a digital interface, while VGA is analog. So there has to be some sort of "smart" circuit which does all the work of converting the original HDMI signal into an analog signal. That's what's built into the big square portion of this adapter. Circuits need power to work; that power comes from the HDMI interface.

Works great right out of the box
I was looking for a way to display the contents of my laptop screen on a 4k TV, without dealing with wires. After reading up about the way this adapter works, I decided to pick it up and try it out. This adapter is designed to work with Windows, as opposed to Chromecast, which only works with the Chrome browser (on Windows). This Microsoft adapter uses "Miracast" - a fancy words which describes about the simplest way to connect a PC/laptop running Windows 10 to a remote display. The best part about it is that you don't need anything on the laptop side of things; Windows 10 comes with built-in support ! I just had to plug the adapter into the HDMI port of my TV, and the attached USB plug into the nearby USB port on the TV (just to give the adapter power to run). Then a simple turning-on via Windows 10 and my screen was extended to the TV !

The blower assembly arrived in new condition, was spotlessly clean, and fit perfectly into a Frigidaire microwave.
