Not just another war drama
2 of 2 found this helpful Great cast, heroic themes and a solid story make Band of Brothers stand out. Its great to see well-written scripts like Band of Brothers to bring the stories of WWII to life. And life and death is very much a part of this series, with no sugar coating but lots of grit. Damian Lewis is great as a sort of low-key leader and Ron Livingston representing so many who had a crutch (alcohol) to get through it. Even former Friends star David Schwimmer had a great role as the hated stickler Captain Sobel. The DVDs are well produced, the filming is authentic looking with realistic sounds instead of Hollywood giant explosions. A little slow to start but hooks you and won't let go. Has gory parts and real GI language so be aware of that if you are sensitive. There are also short vignettes with members of Easy Company that add to the sense of history.

Vanguard of Film Noire
With Bogart's gumshoe slang, the cops cracking foxy, dames in distress, and shady odd characters with dreams of avarice, this early detective story remains a classic. Any film buff has to have this in the collection, and anybody can enjoy the drama and intrigue.

Good value for close ups
This lens performs very well. A more recent model might focus faster and have slightly better contrast and sharpness, but surely not by a lot. I am sure that the slight damage to the front filter ring put off some bidders, but it appears to have nothing but a cosmetic blemish.
