And Soon the Darkness
1 of 1 found this helpful As we open the film, it stars two college age girls in South America on vacation in some rinky-dink middle of no-where town that should have been a warning to any astute parent that would have let their daughters go to. Anyway, one girl is looking for a little too much action and gets the attention of a guy who is a "white-girl sex-slave trader" on the prowl. Well, she gets abducted and her friend starts the search for her. Oh yeah, then there is Karl Urban who is also lurking around town asking lots of questions about a girlfriend of his who is missing. They kind-of join forces to start to find out about all these missing girls from that area and well, I don't want to ruin it, but... Karl gets shot in the head, the girlfriend who was abducted get's fatally hit in the head and well, the cops are the ones running the cartel of sex-slaves for sale. It's a great film to buy if your kids are thinking of going on a vacation and think nothing can go wrong. Worth watching once. Twice if you like Karl Urban. ;)

Doom (DVD, 2006, Widescreen Extended Edition)
Doom is just an awesome sci-fi film about a future planet, where all hell breaks loose as a DNA disease is brought back to life by scientists who uncover fossils of "early man like" remains. The scientists get infected and a team of Marines are sent in to figure out what is going on. Starring Dwayne Johnson (formerly The Rock), the awesome Karl Urban, and the lovely Rosamund Pike. It is not really like the game, just a little of the first person shooter game that we all played in college years ago. It takes that idea of those gory creatures and sets the first person perspective loose at times with the gun in front of you and blowing up the incredible "alien hybrids" that come your way. I liked it. The action is there, but the story is a little slow at times. I love to watch it for the special effects and the shooting-gore-meets alien experience. Worthwhile.
