A great work saver.
The Earthquake Dually is really well designed for either one or two people to use. It is much easier for two people to use, but I've successfully used it by myself. The handles and throttles (2) are well placed for single or double users. The engine is lightweight enough for one person as well. The handle configuration seems much stronger than the traditional X arrangement.
There is only one thing I wish they had Incorporated into the design: a level, or pair of levels. I live on the side of a hill. Anywhere I want to use the Dually is on a slope. Boring a hole that is true is essential. For that matter, any post hole needs to be as plumb as possible. I used mounting tape to secure a bubble level to the top of my Dually for this purpose. Of course, as soon as I start the engine, the level is unreadable, but at least I have a good starting point.
My property is on land that has a great deal of red clay and rocks - not a good combination. The Dually is able to bore a hole through both very well using a 10 inch augur. It is true that a large rock will necessitate some additional work because the Dually will stall when it hits an obstruction. This is a safety feature for both you and your equipment. When the Dually hits a rock, it tends to jerk and twist. If it didn't stall, damage to your arms/joints would occur! A large rock embedded in clay is difficult to remove however you are digging. I don't fault the Dually for poor soil conditions.
All in all, the Earthquake Dually is a great work saver, and a vast improvement over post-hole (clamshell) diggers, or pick and shovel. I highly recommend it.
