SE Gemini I Review

The owner of the SE Gemini had updated with NOS tubes. So the sound quality is very good. I am using the microphone to record acoustic guitars of many makes, models and woods. So far the results have been excellent. The microphone is much quieter than I was expecting. I am getting the articulation of the pick and strings without it being hyped - clear, clean and crisp. The microphone has an internal two-tube signal path - so there is some getting used to the sound. The recording signal path has been both through a Millennia SST-1 and a Shadow Hill Mic Pre - both giving completely different results. Which is nice if you want to have a variety of sounds and colors for your recording purposes. I am very happy and satisfied with the recording results so far.

PreSonus ADL 700 - Great Technical and Sonic Value

If you are looking for an affordable, flexible, feature rich product for your studio - the ADL 700 is a great product to consider. Specifically having a clean tube based microphone preamp with compression and eq for the price of a 500 module is great value. The technical specs are very good - clean - and musical. It also has the flexibility to be used as an instrument DI, Mic preamp and a line re-amp capability as well. It has the ability to switch compression on and off, eq on and off and to reverse the compression/eq positioning. To be able to do that with the flip of switch is great during mic set up for any audio sound check. The price point was so good I actually bought two of these units to use them on a parallel bus to add in tube sonic characteristics.
