Great looks but high maintenance!
3 of 3 found this helpful I bought this car because it simply looked awesome, there were few on the road, and the price was right, $5000 for the base model (non-turbo). I am a mechanic for my cars though and I am here to tell you that Mitsubishi designs these cars for mass production as cheaply as they can. In other words, parts are designed for ease of installation on an assembly line and not particularly designed to ever be removed or replaced again. retaining clips are fragile and too small to hold up after many years. Plastics become brittle and break when you go to repair something. The interior trim separates as glue hardens and lets go. The engines are notorious for smoking somewhere after 100,000 miles as the valve seals rubber hardens, cracks, and falls apart allowing oil to make its way down the valves and into the combustion chambers or exhaust manifolds. Changing the V6 spark plugs can run into very high dollars if you must take it to a shop as the design is such that the intake plenum completely covers the rear bank and must be removed to gain access to the spark plugs. Those not in the know take it to a shop but for an $8 plenum gasket, all you have to do is unclip the electrical connections and the throttle cable. Eight bolts later and you have access to both banks easily. Why the dealer charges almost $300 for the V6 to change spark plugs and tuneup is a mystery to me! The Infinity stereo system has it's own share of problems but to make matters worse, it is the only double din stereo system I've ever seen and finding an aftermarket replacement to fit a 4" square double din hole is next to impossible. We opted for two single din units, the stereo and an equalizer coupled with a six channel amplifier mounted to a custom box fitted behind the rear seat back. Almost no useable trunk space was lost in this modification! The headlights have been changed to something a bit more user friendly over the $600 units that were fixed in place and sealed with the factory car paint scheme seemingly permanently fixed inside the sealed unit. The Lexan clear plastic material yellows over time too and must be meticulously cared for. Yes, the car looks like a million bucks but I doubt any Mitsubishi gains any collectors value over the long haul, maybe the VR-4 but certainly not the base model!

Perfect Oiler!
1 of 1 found this helpful What can you say about an oiler? IT WORKS! It doesn't leak, it pumps exactly how you'd expect it to pump, it feels well made in your hand, and looks pretty darn good too! Works great lubricating ball oiler fittings on my lathe/mill and doesn't sit there and drip when not in use. PERFECT! I certainly recommend this product.
