Celestron Onyx 80EDF Telescope
Great little grab and go scope. It's portability and quick set up time will allow more time observing. I have a C8 that's also great but much more time consuming to set up and dismantle so it doesn't get used as often as I'd like. The Onyx allows me to grab some quick view from my deck on a regular basis. Afterall, if you scope spends most of its time sitting in its case, what good is it.
The wide field provides beautiful views of DSO's and it handles a 3.2mm eyepiece with not problem for the moon and planets. Under dark skies, the 3.2 provided almost 3D like images that I haven't seen before.
I haven't had a chance to image through it yet but have purchased a 2" T adapter and plan to take some photos. From what I read it should perform very well.
The only faults are the viewfinder which is almost impossible to use. I consider it a very bad design. A dovetail adapter from ScopeStuff and a RDF solved the problem and now it's dead on every time. The only other issue I have is the loose fitting drawtube locking screw. I lost it twice now due to it falling out while driving. They could have come up with a better system. I may try some loctite to keep it in place. Other than that, it's a great little scope that will certainly provide years of great viewing. It's portability will make it a favorite and after all, isn't that what a telescope is for, observing?

Very Happy
Upon seeing it and handling it I'm very impressed with the quality. However, it's mid-winter so no flies around unfortunately, but it did a job on red cups and totally destroyed a balloon from about 2 1/2 feet away so looking forward to a lot of fun in the spring.
