The LED indicator allows me to know what the thermostat is doing laying in bed with just one eye open. I also like having these thermostats in other parts of my house as well. Once you have a thermostat with an LED indicator you'll NEVER go without one again.
The Venstar T3800 thermostat will handle single stage, or multiple stages of cooling or heating. Very easy to set up and program. (Of course, you don't have to do any programming if you don't want to.) The only changes I made was changing the default “Dead Band” from 2°F to 1°F. This holds the temperature within one degree, F.
I also ordered the Venstar ACC-VWF1 Wi-Fi Module. This allows the thermostat to connect to your Wi-Fi. I recommend this option very much. This allows you to more easily program the thermostat using a desktop computer. Using my Mac and running Firefox I can set up any schedule on a day by day basis. You can do very simple programming, complex programming, or no programming at all. The Venstar T3800 thermostat uses no batteries. All set points and programming is stored in non-volatile memory.
The iPhone thermostat app is “Venstar Skyport”. This is an excellent iPhone app it will let you do most everything you would want to do with the thermostat. The Venstar app is simple to use without a lot of unnecessary fluff. With the iPhone app, (or a desktop computer) you can raise or lower the temperature, change the thermostat from Heating, Cooling or Auto, and control the fan (aka blower) independently if you wish. The iPhone app will also let you observe the running time of your equipment. The Venstar Skyport iPhone app allows you to have up to 10 different properties, with up to 10 thermostats at each property.
I had occasion to send their technical support a question. I received a courteous and useful answer (in perfect English), about 12 hours later.

Excellent discs
Excellent discs. Unlike the purple dye type that are only good for 5-10 years, M-Disc will last hundreds of years. They print well also on my Epson disc printer. If your data or movies are important to you you must use M-Disc .
