If Only I Had Known...
Worked as expected - very well.
I must say, however, that it turns out I could have simply tightened the nuts on my existing laptop hinges to remedy the issue I was having. That's all they really needed. Had I tried taking my Chromebook apart before ordering the new hinges, I'd have clearly seen the adjusting nuts and figured this out. But since I had already taken delivery of these new ones, I just went on ahead and swapped them in, then tightened up the old ones. I guess I'll just hold onto them.
These were only $10, so no big loss. Plus in all actuality it would have been just as much work trying to tighten the old ones as swapping in new ones. Those adjustment nuts are tiny and difficult to turn while still installed in the laptop - even with a pair of needle-nosed pliers.
