A very good beginner mandolin. NOT for bluegrass!
4 of 4 found this helpful The Epiphone MM 30 is a pretty nice, low-priced mandolin. The gold hardware really makes it look sharp. The one I bought was easy to set up and played very well with low action - exceptionally easy to play. It has a darker tone due to the mahogany back and sides. It doesn't have a lot of volume. This model is much better for playing folk and Celtic styles, regardless of the manufacturer's claims about it being a bluegrass piece. It is very good for the price.

Fender Pure Vintage '58 Telecaster pickups
This is a great Telecaster pickup set from Fender at a good price. Just as good as some of the "boutique" pickups that cost twice as much. The neck pickup has a smooth, bright tone - not too much volume, which can cause Tele neck pickups to distort and sound muddy. The bridge pickup sounds good for any type of music, although it puts out enough volume for rock music. I installed this set in a G&L Tribute ASAT, and this guitar now sounds as good as an American vintage series Telecaster.
