Good quality, good price
1 of 1 found this helpful It's often difficult to find a cheaper knife set that is sharp, but J.A. Hankels has done it with this set that serves its purpose and is very functional. Now knowing the quality this company offers, I'd like to try their more expensive knife sets that likely offers some extra flair and durability.

Poorly design
The plastic straw that draws water into the carafe from under the lid to the bottom of the carafe was poorly conceived. Why would anyone want hot coffee to pass through a plastic straw on a daily basis and potentially leach plastic micro particles into your coffee? I tried to cut the plastic straw but I couldn't make a "clean cut."
I called Krups to send to me replacement lids without a straw made out of plastic, but they said they didn't produce any. So now I'm reduced to using a different lid from another coffee maker without the plastic straw (it doesn't fit well but it serves the purpose).
Krups is known for excellent German engineering, but in this case, I think they dropped the ball especially when their customer service center said they couldn't help me.
