    Warning Label?
I purchased this book because I was in the process of doing research for a story I had in mind. What I didn't know was that even reading half of the book would give me the full blown creeps the way it did. In all seriousness, the book was not read by me in it's entirety and went out of the house the very same day I got it. I do not know what part my belief system played in the whole experience but the idea that anybody but a person with absolute solid nerves of steel needs to read this book is ridiculous. A teenager should not be allowed anywhere near this book. I would say only the most mature, solidly grounded person with unbreakable faith should be reading it. There is some type of feeling of dread that comes from this book. I seriously am not trying to be melodramatic here but should you decide to try to give this book a read you are truly doing so at your own risk. There should be some type of warning on the front cover of the book. This isn't some dressed up Hollywood movie or a NYT best selling romance novel. It truly alters your perceptions, or at least it did mine. I did some follow-up research on the book and found that many people had supposedly experienced unpleasant events after reading the book. I cannot qualify any of that except to say that statements are on the net for anybody to read and sort out on your own. There is even a site where the brother of the kid in the book states that nothing ever happened.Yes he had a mental illness but no he wasn't possessed. He describes a game of human Chess motivated by greed and money. None of us were there so none of us will ever really know. My final observation about all of this is that the guy who wrote the book, Gerald Brittle, holds high degrees in advanced psychology. It even passed through my mind that if he is truly this advanced he might possible have somehow wrote this story in such a way as to put a psychological whammy on you. I do not have any idea. The book is graphic in it's depictions but the photos do not really show much of anything. Some things described seem extremely unbelievable and seem to borrow from "The Exorcist". I guess interpretations would be on a per case basis and left up to the individual reader. "The Exorcist" scared me but not as much as reading half of this book. My advice is to stay away from the book. If you want to invite nights of insomnia and some type of urge to keep looking out your windows then by all means...Knock yourself out.
