Next to useless
The digital height gauge looked like a great design. I wanted to be able to set my table saw blade height more precisely. However it was so poorly made it rendered it almost useless. The main problem is it's weight. It is so light and has such a small base it won't stand upright. The second problem is how stiff the measuring rod is. My goal was a simple one. I wanted to put the height gauge over the blade and raise it until the gauge read the height I wanted. As soon as the blade touched the gauge it would fall over. Even trying to hold it with one hand while raising the blade wouldn't work because the cheap plastic would flex before the measuring rod would move. I finally tried setting the height gauge to the number I wanted and then raised the blade until the gauge fell over. This technique worked (sort of). If it were made out of stainless steel (like callipers), had a wider base and a smoother measuring rod, it would be a great tool. As it is, I'll probably just throw it away.

Great height gauge at this price point.
The Taytools 6" height gauge is great for woodworking and even a small machine shop. I use it primarily to set my table saw blade height. It's heavy steel base keeps it where you put it. To my surprise it's column is made of stainless steel and the action is very smooth and accurate. I only found two things I would like changed. (And I'm nit picking now.) The display doesn't hold zero set when you turn it off. You need to re-zero it each time you turn it on. The other thing, a trade off to keep the price reasonable, is the scribe. It isn't made of carbide, so it scratches easily on a carbide saw blade. Over all I'm amazed of the quality at this price point. Don't waste you money on the cheap plastic units. This is much much better for just a little more.

Easy to install
2 of 2 found this helpful I was impressed how easy this drive was to install. On my case it involved removing two screws on case, unplugging two cables, and removing old drive. Installation was the reverse. That's it! No special software or drivers. I run Linux Mint 17.2 for my operating system. So far I have read and burnt DVD's and read blu-ray’s. I have not yet tried to burn a blu-ray disc.
