Pros and Cons for Thinkpad T23
I've owned more than 50 T23 systems over the last 4 years. All were bought used on eBay. A quick rundown about the T23: + Good, fairly inexpensive system for typical computing uses + Factory support still exists: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-57669 + Hardware Maintenance Manual has instructions for troubleshooting and taking the system apart: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-4UYM3F + Online forums: http://forums.lenovo.com/ and http://forum.thinkpads.com/ (Full disclosure: I am a mod at the Lenovo forum and admin at thinkpads.com) + Some systems did come with built-in wireless + 14.1" SXGA+ (1400x1050) screens were available; can swap entire lid assembly from other T21/T22/T23 systems + Hardware upgrades are easy to do; remove 1 screw (if it's even there) and pull the hard drive out; unscrew a panel on the bottom and you have access to the memory slots; unscrew another panel and there's the MiniPCI modem or wireless card + Ports: Infrared, 2 PCMCIA slots, 2 USB, ethernet, modem, serial, parallel, VGA + Many peripherals and spare parts are available on eBay: port replicators, docking stations, Ultrabay 2000 hard drive adapters, Ultrabay 2000 battery +/- Pentium III processor topped out at 1.2Ghz; 866Mhz, 1Ghz and 1.13Ghz were other options +/- Uses S3 SuperSavage graphics processor +/- Battery life is around 2 hours with constant wireless use +/- Uses a "pointing stick" (TrackPoint) in the middle of the keyboard as the mouse; some people like them, others hate it +/- Probably does not have enough hardware to run Vista or Windows 7 (I've not tried loading these on a T23); Windows XP runs quite well with 1GB of memory - Has a problem with inductors separating from the motherboard; can be repaired if you take the system apart and know how to solder - Only has USB 1.1 ports - Maximum memory limited to 1GB using older PC133 SDRAM (more expensive per MB when compared with DDR or DDR2 memory) - Can only use Parallel ATA (PATA) hard drives in the main drive bay; again, these are more expensive than current-day Serial ATA (SATA) drives when considering $$$/GB and are limited in size to 320GB - Has a habit of cracking the keyboard bezel near the lower left and right corners of the keyboard, usually as a result of very tight LCD hinges and a..., - Mounting tab breaking off the Ultrabay cage inside the laptop Despite all of the hardware negatives, if you have the skill and desire to open up the laptop and take care of these weak points, the T23 can be a very good laptop that can be used for web surfing, email, office document creation and similar tasks. Just don't expect to use it with the latest games which require dual core CPUs and 3D graphics support. Treat the system with some basic care (don't pick it up or hold it by only one corner - this flexes the motherboard; don't subject it to hard knocks while the hard drive is spinning; etc.) and it should provide you with years of service. What to ask eBay sellers and/or the first things you should do when getting a T23: * Is the BIOS accessible? A BIOS password will lock you out of the system when the backup battery dies. * What is the MODEL TYPE (e.g. 2647-HNU)? Enter it in the Quick Path box at http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/homeLenovo.do to find the original configuration. * Any cracks in the keyboard bezel? * Pink/reddish tint in the screen? This indicates a backlight that might soon fail.
New Replacement Remote For Samsung UN55KS8000F UN55KS8000FXZA UN55KS800DF
    Jan 08, 2020
    Almost an exact replacement
Remote is not an EXACT replacement for Samsung RMCSPK1AP1. While all of the normal TV remote functions work (via over-the-air channels), it does not work the same as the original remote for my UN55KS8000FXZA. For example, my original remote can turn on my ViP612 Dish receiver and change satellite channels; this replacement cannot. Description does mention that One Connect Media Box and voice commands will not work. Should be expanded to include DISH receivers.
