Almost Perfect Single Function Appliance

This water kettle was rated very highly by Consumer Reports. It deserves its rating. It is very fast, boiling a full pot of water in 3-4 minutes. It is easy to handle. It cleans easily and the stainless steel inside liner looks like it will last a long time. The plastic outside stays cool. It is much faster and energy efficient than boiling water in a kettle on the stove. Only drawback is one common to almost all small appliances-a very short power cord which limits where you can put it without using an extension cord.

Well Designed, Easy to Operate, Perfect Rice

This is one of "Consumer Reports" top rated rice cookers. It is very easy to operate. It works with all kinds of rice and produces terrific results. I love the "keep warm" function. It truly keeps the rice warm without drying it out or scorching it. The interior cook pot is removable, truly non-stick and dishwasher safe. Works with soups and stews too. What more could you ask?

Hard to hear with a wind instrument.

This is a great value and offers many features such as a tuner, ability to control measure lengths and so on. However, my recommendation is conditional. It does not work well with my flute. The sound from the metronome is too close to that of the flute and the metronome gets buried. I suspect that this would be an issue with most wind instruments and maybe even a piano. It should work well with strings and maybe reed instruments. A metronome is not "enjoyable". It is a tool.
