Know what you're getting
I was pleased to find this product on eBay for $100ish cheaper than at Ashley Furniture's store. I wondered, "How can they sell the same product for less?". Didn't think too much of it after ordering and was pleased to find a good deal.
Upon delivery I realized why it can be sold cheaper. The product was delivered in a box with assembly required. This would not be so bad, but there were no assembly instructions anywhere in the box. The item is fairly heavy, weighing somewhere around 230 pounds. Luckily I am a pretty large individual and was able to handle the weight. Assembly turned out to be relatively simple but to get certain pieces to fit correctly, quite a bit of muscle was involved. Some of the screw holes did not line up, one side of the unit was not flush with the front of the console, etc.
We got it assembled and it looks very nice, just like the pictures. The next problems, however, were equally as frustrating. The console has a STRONG smell to it. Something like the smell of diesel fuel. We are in day 2 and it still smells up an entire room. In an effort to combat the stench, we wiped the piece down with lemon scented dusting spray and a simple rag. While wiping the front of the console, a 2 inch long piece of "wood" caught the rag and subsequently ripped off, leaving a bright white "cut" on the front. We were able to remedy the flaw with a stain pen.
All in all, you are getting a large, decent looking entertainment console for $700 - not a bad deal. Just know that you are getting a Chinese made particle board piece of furniture that will not stand up to a light dusting.
The seller was very responsive to questions regarding shipping - we received the item on time. So, that part of the process was good.
