Great view of the inner workings of Jim Jones' Peoples Temple
I began reading books about Jim Jones and the Peoples Temple in 2011 after a newspaper article picqued my interest. To date, I have read 5 books on the subject and I am continually searching for more! I was a little bit hesitant about reading this book because it came out so soon after the Jonestown Massacre. This is an EXCELLENT read and I would recommend it to anyone who may be doing a little bit of research on this tragic event in U.S. History. While the author seemed to be a little bit naive in some of the decisions that she and her husband made, she goes into detail explaining why she made those decisions at the time. This book is an in-depth look at the inner workings of the Peoples Temple from someone who was working right at the center of the operation before the mass exodus to Guyana. Sadly, the author and her husband were shot and killed in their home about 6 months after the release of this book. Their daughther, who was home at the time, was shot as well. She later died in the hospital. No one was ever charged with the murders. After reading this book, one cannot help but wonder if they were not murdered by a Temple member who just did not like the portrait that the author painted of Jim Jones and his People. An excellent read~I highly recommend this one to everyone!

    Best post-apocalypse TV movie!
Call me a dork, but I love this made-for-TV movie! I watch this every time that it is aired on TV. It is long and of course does not go into as much detail as the book, but it is enjoyable in a campy sort of way. Gary Sinese is great as Stu, or "East Texas". Stephen King does his regular cameo appearance although he does have a bigger role in this movie than he usual does (or did a few years back). Randall Flagg character sports a mullet and Molly Ringwald sports a dark brown short bob. Gotta see this one! ;)

    MUCH better than the movie......
I loved this book! It is very funny and witty in addition to being a great story. The author really allows the reader to "get to know" the characters without going on and on about each character. The book has so much more to it than the movie did. This is excellent reading material.
