Smooth reel for price
Picked up a couple Catana 3000’s to have as backup reels. Very nice and smooth for the price. They aren’t high end or the nicest reels I have ever used, but I didn’t pay high end prices either. If you can afford a hundred dollar reel, get a Daiwa BG or Shimano Nasci.

3 of 3 found this helpful Looking for a great reel that is every bit as good as other reels that cost twice as much? Consider getting the Daiwa BG. You can find it in small sizes suitable for ultra light fishing, or get in the 8000 size and catch a tarpon. Smooth reel, smooth drag and comfortable grip. These reels are durable, smooth and should last a lifetime if you take care of them. I was always a Shimano guy but these Daiwa BG reels really surprised me.
