Rigs had the potential to be phenomenal. Instead, it serves as a distraction. While the gameplay itself is solid, the rest of the game feels more like a demo. Several reviewers have noted the motion sickness this game can inflict, and the measures the game gives to minimize that. I am lucky enough to not have a problem with all the safeties off, as I felt annoyed and restricted with them on. I imagine the game would be no fun, at all, with the default viewing modes enabled. Having said that, the (blessedly) short matches are a blast. Even with the relative steep learning curve, the feel of piloting the rigs was enough of a thrill to keep me coming back. Unfortunately, there was an abundance of wasted potential when it came to the league system. There was little in the way of customizing your rigs, other than "more money = better gear." The cosmetic sponsor rewards are not enough to make this a serious time sink rather than a match or two distraction between other games. But, if you can pick it up for $20, it's definitely well worth it.
