Wife's Happy; Rats/Mice Are In Rat Heaven!
1 of 1 found this helpful We have had a rat/mouse problem for a while in our front yard. I tried the big rat traps baited with peanut butter and nuts. Got only a couple after a long period in between. Learned that rats are pretty smart. They send the stupid ones in first. No more after those two. Didn't want to use poison bait as I didn't want to smell dead rat/mouse in my walls/etc. Also got an active puppy, and so the traditional rat trap was out too. Saw the Rat Zapper and decided to gamble and try it. Over just a five day period, one each evening, I've gotten three rats and two either mice or baby rats. I'm using plain old bird seed as bait. I'm using Duracell batteries and after four kills, they are still well charged. I think the reason why it works so well night after night is there is no blood involved that the next critter can smell and thus stay away. When the critter dies, it loses its fluid/poop to which I just carefully wipe out with a paper towel using a stick to push it around some. I believe that the next critter smells that their buddy was in there, but no blood, so it must be still good eating in there, and in they go for their electrifying snack. I just reset it with more bird seed, set it back in the same spot, and wait for the next one to stop in for their electrifying snack. :-) The one thing you cannot do is leave it out in the rain, otherwise it will probably short-circuit. I rarely do this, but this product gets 5 thumbs up from me, plus the wife is happy too.
