Good saw at a reasonable price.
This saw is positioned as an import replacement for the excellent but discontinued Powermatic 66. It is clear that this saw is not of the same quality as the old '66 but it is still a very good saw.
Pros:
(1) Castings are solid and well machined.
(2) Saw runs smoothly and seems powerful enough for anything I am likely to cut.
(3) Nice paint job.
(4) Hydrolic wheel set is excellent.
Cons:
(1) Accu-Fence rails came a bit scratched and the end-caps crushed due to poor packaging and/or rough shipping. After several months Powermatic does not have replacement end-caps in-stock, and this makes me a bit concerned if/when a more critical part fails. For that reason, I would not recommend this brand for a professional shop.
(2) Accu-Fence Side-Plates are not really flat, and may result in curved or uneven cuts.
(3) The plastic Motor Cover sags on its hinges and refuses to latch closed, so I have to tape the cover in-place. Not a big deal, but at this price-point . . . you know.
I like this saw very much in spite of its disappointments.
