Electro-Voice PL80a Dynamic Microphone with clip, original packaging

A reboot of the classic PL80 mic from the 80s
This is a reboot of the classic PL80 mic from the 80s. Original has Al-ni-co and this reboot was given a Neodymium magnet by EV. I have both versions and the former is darker/heavier sounding vs. the focused-yet-still-not-harsh-sound of the latter. May or may not work as the output is always timbre (of the artist) dependent. I'm keeping mine copy of both.

Highly recommended for thick-voiced baritones and tenors
Proximity effect and plosives are amazingly minimized by this (ND267a) microphone. It would really work therefore for dudes with thick voices and needing that lift in presence and higher frequencies. Conversely, that boost in HF might be too much for some females. Horses for courses..
For my baritone, this works really well.

Do I recommend this? Heck yeah!
Do I recommend this? Heck yeah! It's made of silver clad copper wires which on some implementations could be b-r-i-g-h-t. Well, this isn't one of those. But then again, I'm the one who tends to increase the treble control a notch so take that with a grain of salt. The thing is this doesn't have glare in the upper mids either so the treble is not fatiguing. For thirty bux NOS, run to get one.
