Stuck with bad picture

For reasons unknown to us, the picture quality is horrible. It's hooked up to a coax cable - maybe that's the problem We had purchased the identical TV earlier and had the same problem. We wouldn't have purchased the second one, but the space for it a TV is tiny; we're limited in what we can buy. The first one went black not many months after purchase.
