Very good but not quite the Bench mark
This is a beautiful book, the photography is outstanding and the text is enlightening without being tedious, my only quibble is the quality of some of the houses. I was disappointed in some of the houses chosen, I was expecting to see only houses where Darcy would have lived, instead a few look like where Elizabeth Bennett would have lived. I buy these books to see the most impressive and didn’t get that totally here. Certainly some of the houses featured are extremely impressive and would have fitted any Duke in Debretts, but too many were just not up to the mark, frankly, that’s why 4 stars instead of 5. Definitive book on this subject is yet to be produced, but alas, hope springs eternal.

Venerable Venice
This is the definitive book on this subject, it’s a huge book, with quality images of exteriors and interiors. These palazzo’s are incredible. The text can be jarring because it’s a direct translation of Italian to English otherwise it would have been 5 star not 4. I do highly recommend.
