Excellent "first person" account of the 1896-1899 Klondike/Yukon Gold Rush!
As an amateur historical research photographer/student of history, I have always been intrigued by the frenzied madness which led to the Klondike/Yukon Gold Rush of 1896-1899. And Bill Haskell's autobiography provides the reader with not only an excellent "first person", been there, done that perspective but he also interjects those tiny little details which usually seem to be omitted.

A very well made historical mini-series
As a long time student of history, I have always been fascinated with the Klondike/Yukon gold rush of the 1890's and this mini-series, developed by the Discovery Channel, did not disappoint. What's interesting to note is, several years ago, Nat'l Geographic produced a video entitled, Ghost Ships of the Yukon/Klondike? about all the abandoned ships and boats along the Yukon. And during their investigation, they searched for the wreckage of the small, home built kit steam boat, AJ Goddard and they found it at the bottom of Lake Bennett? after it was abandoned in a storm on the lake, perfectly preserved. Well, lo and behold, guess what shows up in the latter part of this mini-series, a replica of the AJ Goddard taking aboard those people who wanted to depart Dawson City/Yukon before the winter set in. It's those little details which made the mini-series very satisfying for me.
