Beautiful classic stories, but best for older children
Beautiful animations based on the beloved illustrations from Beatrix Potter--all the classic soft images of Beatrix's well-known critters and the English countryside--truly a treat to watch. I find myself looking at the background more often than the story that is happening, simply because it is a glimpse into that long-gone era of farmhouse country living--onions hanging from the ceiling, post & beam construction, shuttered windows, rain barrels...simply luscious! I do wish that there were more of her stories on this--There are only six stories, and I have seen on other older DVDs that there are more of her stories available. It would be nice if there were all of the stories animated in one volume or a box set of some sort. Since Beatrix's stories are true to life in that her characters always seem to be happening upon some sort of animal-oriented crisis, there are portions of the tales that are rather frightening for a younger child. When reading her books, the stories don't play out in such a vivid manner--animation has a more realistic effect on a child's mind. For instance, in the Jemima Puddle-Duck tale, the scene of the dogs attacking the fox was a bit scary. Additionally, even the simplicity of Mr. McGregor chasing after Peter was a little on the dramatic side--Trumped up music adds to the panic effect. We have read this story over and over to our little one (age 2 1/2), and she was never afraid of the story until she saw it on this DVD. Perhaps for an older child, these scenes will not be quite as fearful. Overall though, a wonderful series that you will treasure for years to come!

Low quality--You get what you pay for.
If your kids throw around their goggles, wear them like a fashion statement on top of their head instead of on their eyes or scuff them across the pool deck, these are fine. If your kids actually want to wear them on their eyes and swim with them on--get some better quality googles than Dophino brand. The straps are crafted of a slick plastic material and continually slide off the googles. Also, the material around the eye lenses is stiff and digs into a child's face (red marks like raccoons after 10 minutes of swimming). I would not recommend them and would not purchase them again.
