Good Photography, Dated Commentary

Overall, I am enjoying the series. The photography is good, the wildlife scenes are very good but the commentary by Marty Stouffer is dated and shallow. While there is a lot of good information on each animal showcased, there is a fair amount of misrepresentation and "Disney" style humanizing of wild creatures and typical PBS naivety. I guess you have to pay the piper. I can tollerate the narritive because there are just not that many good wildlife DVDs.

Storage Formats

I bought two of these storage devices about two weeks apart to use for storage and playback of movies. The storage areas were formatted differently. It took a while to identify this issue but the fix was actually pretty easy. Passport support response was worthless "they were not designed to store movies". Anyway, I really like these units. I haven't had any problems using them after the formatting issue was resolved.

A great addition to my outdoor library.

I found this book to be very thorough and detailed. Easy to identify mammals of all sizes. Much more than a field guide (actually, a little heavy for a field guide) but a great read. I've already spent a lot of time just reading about various local mammals that I have rarely or never seen.
